*Returns Lucario and follows close behind Glubby*
"I'm not likin' how simply this is seeming. Where are the lasers? And the sharks? And the laser-sharks? And where's the overbearing assistant and strange mystical relics that trap, snap, and zap? " *Jimi' and Glubby's words echo across the chasm. The figure at the end, notices, turns and stops. They slowly stows away the lightstone, pulls a cylindrical object strapped to their back, and points it towards the entrance. Before opening fire. It seems to be Cordak Blaster shots similar to ones from the challenge before. The first rocket lands at the start, shattering the Lightstone devices, before the rest of the volley hammers into other parts of the bridge, sending chunks of it tumbling into the abyss. After the volley ends, the figure chucks the heavy stone device at Jimi. The Lightstone shards glimmer, shine and reflect each other's light, causing tiny portions of the remaining parts of the bridge to be revealed as the light crosses them, becoming solid in the process, floating impossibly in the gloom. The figure leaps between these shards with supernal agility and makes a leap into the exit. With a flash of reflected light, a blade whips out and slices the wind, causing chunks of rubble to start falling from the ceiling, before the figure races away, out of sight.* "THAT'S CHEATING!!!" *Pulls the Dragoon out of my pocket from before, and gets everyone on safely. I then rocket over the chasm at the assigned height from before, so that I'm not cheating and nothing happens again. This gets us over the bridge, and quickly catches up to the figure, who is no match for the Dragoon's speed.*

(OoC: That feel when you realise that making a text-based version of a Metroid level would be really, really hard given it's open-endedness and you can't think of an appropriately ancient-y franchise on the spot so you do a quick switch-a-roo…)
*The steps descend down into... the outside? No, it's hundreds of metres up... clouds surround everything? How could this be? The surroundings hint at an faintly Arabian aesthetic, and the entire area seems to be a colossal race track. The writings on a nearby wall reveal the truth. The words are written in Babylonian, the long-lost civilisation of the Babylon Rogues.*
"We cannot turn back, our home a long-lost dream. In this world, full of seeing what we no longer can reach.
If treasure you seek, your equal you must meet, For the rule of our trial is to never get beat."
*In addition, there seems to be a rewritten version of the story above. Due to being written in Babylonian, different section is legible.*
"Error - full translation not available. Reading from first available section: The light of the stars brought peace to this land. The four foes, friendship at last, built this temple together, to test the iridium of future heroes, who seek the power of glimmer interior error translation failed."
*Two figures can be seen partway along the track - it seems they could not get too far ahead. Another shrine stands, labeled in Babylonian, that it can recreate any grounded vehicle close to an Extreme Gear you possess - and that you must choose wisely.*
Restrictions are simple - any grounded vehicle. Babylonian technology is digital, and will replicate its stats to Extreme Gear level for a fair fight, as well as restricting or boosting any physical vehicle to those levels (which may actually be good for the Hydra, since if the Sonic Riders games also run off MPH, then even basic Extreme Gear would be almost twice as fast as the Hydra :-P ). Vehicles that can switch to a flight capable mode may do so, but for only a few seconds, also in accordance with Extreme Gear functionality, with exact time based on the stats that the flight-capable mode in an unrestricted space - for example, something capable of brief flight would have a shorter duration, where as something capable of much longer trips would have a bit more. In short, an EX-gear race... but against who? You'll see once you all select your vehicles.

(OoC: Stalling a little in case anyone else wants to join in before the race starts, but just to keep things moving.)
*A gate opens and you're let through to the starting area. As you pass through, you're scanned, and as you take your places ready to begin, digital recreations of the participants are created as the opposition, including the appropriate vehicle. Somewhat unfairly, each opposing participant has an Ark of the Cosmos (OoC note: An item from Sonic Riders Zero Gravity that allows the manipulation of Gravity) strapped to their wrists. Despite the lofty talk of 'equals' from the text, it seems this won't quite be a fair race. That must be what the two figures ahead are - one must be the assailant from earlier on their own version of the trial, racing their doppleganger.
The race has yet to start, so a barrier is up preventing passage into the course.*

*Copies of Gamma and Jimi appear as well. Although Jimi's choice of seems to have confused the system, as his copy is riding on top of the kart like it's a board type extreme gear. :-P
The physical barrier rises to be replaced with an electric starting line - you can try to cross but you'll get zapped. The trick is to try and cross the start the moment the countdown ends and the barrier shuts down.
The count to the start begins, but the copies break off immediately, passing through the electric gate harmlessly - so much for a fair race...*
>FIVE
>FOUR
>THREE

>RACE
Restrictions are simple - you must employ your vehicle and only your vehicle to win. Moving on without it will... er, disqualify you, preventing progression, with the exception of running out of fuel if your vehicle can in the timeframe of a short race. You may get out to push or carry your vehicle to refuelling stations throughout the course - although you'll then be limited to just your physical capabilities and you must be moving your vehicle. However, when it comes to combatting your opponents, no holds are barred - but remember the same applies to your dopplegangers. You do not need to beat each other, only the doubles - though you will all need to beat all the doubles, not just your own to progress. As this is a team race, you are allowed to team up on your dopplegangers, but once again, the same applies to them.
