Nintendo games have a variety of oddities associated with them - and many go back pretty deep. As someone who is very curious into these things, I've created this thread so that you may ask me about any of these oddities and mysteries - and maybe outside of Nintendo too if you want - and I'll try to find the answers. This may be drawn from Mythology, History, In-universe Lore or Game Design. Or sometimes other fields, if the situation calls for it.
I'll start with a name fact based on the new reveals of Pokémon Lets Go: Did you know that Pikachu's name comes from the Japanese words Pika (which is an onomatopoeic word for the sound electricity makes, and is sometimes translated as 'Sparkle') and 'Chu' which is the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound a mouse makes, which for us would be squeak. So Pikachu's name means Sparklesqueak!
