Be sure to check these out if you have any questions!
1. A category is the LEGO theme from which the characters you are voting for come from. There are two topics for every category, one for heroes, one for villains. E.g., one of the categories for 2017 is Star Wars.
2. To qualify as a category, the theme must have released sets in the current year. E.g., Star Wars is a category because it released LEGO sets in 2017.
3. Nominees are characters who were featured in a category. E.g., R2-D2 is a nominee because he was featured in a 2017 Star Wars LEGO set.
4. To qualify as a nominee, a character must appear in either a LEGO set, LEGO TV show or movie, or LEGO video game. E.g., R2-D2 is a nominee because he was featured in LEGO set 30611.
5. Every user is allowed to vote for one nominee per topic. They are only allowed to vote once, and they can change their vote at any time during the voting period.
6. Voting begins with the Primary Polls, in which users vote for their favorite character from each category. This vote begins early in the year and ends sometime around November. The winners will proceed to the final round of voting.
7. The winners of the Primary Polls will then be pitted against each other in the Ultimate Hero/Villain of the Year Award poll. This begins sometime in November and ends in January of the next year. The three nominees who receive the most votes earn the title of Ultimate Hero or Ultimate Villain.
8. Voting for the current year takes place next year. E.g., 2017's polls will take place in 2018.
9. In the Classics category, users may nominate classic characters that are not nominees in the current polls. There is a limit of twenty nominees. Nominations take place from January to July. Nominations may end sooner if the limit of nominees is reached.
10. Users may vote twice in every category (once for heroes and once for villains) and twice during the Ultimate Hero/Villain of the Year Awards.
